Business owners have a lot on their plates, but being a side-hustler, the balancing act is even more tricky.
I have now maintained my day job and side-hustle for about a year and a half and I've realized that when I work non-stop with no days off, just grinding it out, the faster it can lead to burn out.
So how can you balance it all and still make big strides in your business?
Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to this. I'm figuring it out right there with you. But, I HAVE come to understand how important it is to have real rest is and I'm really trying to implement more of that into my day to day life.
This all came up because I was talking with my husband and I told him "I'm just tired." "You need to take a break," he suggested. "But I don't know why I need a break when my life has such great balance," I told him. Which is true.
I make time for working out, for doing things I enjoy, for family, friends, my work... I do #allthethings so why am I feeling so tired? I think it's because I never take a REAL break.
I'm sure you've heard the phrase 'White Space', but if you haven't, it's a time of real rest where you can get away, unplug and recharge. This is hugely beneficial to your personal life as well as your creative life.
While I understand this in my head, it's very hard for me to actually do. I find myself working on Saturdays, writing for blog posts early on Sunday mornings, planning out Instagram content on Sunday nights... which is what I DON'T want to have happen, but it's happening.
Taking a day off is hard. There are a lot of things you can be doing to move the needle forward, but in an effort to avoid burnout and in hopes to maintain the joy of business I'm finding that I need a full day off.
While this can look like I'm taking steps back, I truly believe it will help me take big strides forward in the long run.
If you're a side-hustler, do you carve out time for white space in your week / month?
I would love to hear how you are cultivating this type of real rest into your life.
